  • Pienza

    Previously named Corsignano, the old town was rebuilt, applying traditional Renaissance principles and renamed Pienza. Today Pienza is famous the world over for its exquisite Pecorino cheese. It is located 11 kms from Cignella.

Its’ medieval and renaissance architecture is displayed in the historic streets and great restaurants serve hearty Tuscan fare alongside their world famous red wines. It is located 15km from Cignella.

  • Montalcino

    Montalcino is surrounded by a forest of oak trees and stunning countryside where the highly esteemed wines of the region are made. The most famous of these is the ‘Brunello’, which has earned the title of DOCG. Wine connoisseurs must stop at La Fortezza wine cellar, while customised wine tastings at the Enoteca San Giorgio are highly recommended.

    There are many beautiful buildings around the city, including the Romanesque Abbey of Sain Antimo, the gothic “Piazza del Popolo’ and the neoclassical cathedral. The old Convent of Sant’Agostino is now a Diocese Museum containing works of art by the Sienese Masters. It is located 34 km from Cignella.

  • San Gimignano

    An Italian hill town, San Gimignano is often referred to as the “Town of One Hundred Towers” and is also known as the “medieval Manhattan”. The Duomo di San Grimignano is a 12th century church with fine frescoes in its Santa Fina Chapel. It is 93 km from Cignella.
